Remembering Your Happy Heart with Loving-Kindness Meditation and A Journey to Deep Peace

With Linda Davis, MSW, RYT

March 17, 2018

Come away for a day in Elohee’s beautiful surroundings where you’ll slow down, dive deep into your warm-hearted, peaceful self and come away feeling blissfully rested and spiritually inspired.

Come to remember the kind and open heart you called home as a child. We will find it at the quiet and still place that is the center of your being where your true self resides – a realm full of gentle knowing, deep peace, and true happiness. It comes from your own basic goodness which has simply become clouded over by our fears, insecurities and habits; by the masks and false selves we all develop in our lives. The happiness of our “real” self is not something we create, we can only remember it, let go into it and learn to listen to its deepest wisdom.

Our time together will include:

• Mindfulness Meditation, both Sitting and Walking (with clear instructions)
• Loving-kindness (Metta) Meditation** (description below)
• A delicious fresh lunch, lovingly prepared, beautifully presented, and enjoyed in social silence.*
• Time for a stroll in the woods or to simply relax.
• Restorative Yoga (where you simply relax with pillows and bolsters allowing the body to soften)
• Deep Peace Yoga Nidra Guided Journey *** (please see description below).

People from all levels of experience with Meditation or Yoga, including beginners, are warmly welcomed for this special day.

Please dress comfortably and in layers.  You may want to bring shoes for hiking/walking if that is something you might enjoy on our afternoon break. You may also want to bring a notebook or journal as well as an eye pillow/sleep mask (or just a folded washcloth) if you’d like to cover your eyes during the Yoga Nidra meditation.

*Social Silence means not “chatting” so that you can let your experience deepen, but there will be time for dialog, Q & A and sharing.

** Loving-Kindness, or Metta, is one the four “Divine Abodes” taught in the Buddhist tradition. (The others being compassion, empathetic joy and equanimity). Loving-kindness is a beautiful practice – it is benevolent, tender, caring and compassionate. The guided meditation invites feelings of warmth and kindness for oneself and others. We begin by extending loving friendliness to ourselves. Then we imagine and encircle others who are special to us, and then keep expanding our circles until we include all living beings and the planet itself. Gradually, both the visualization and the meditation phrases meld into your experience, softening your mind, body and heart and opening to deep levels of pure love.

*** Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice by which you will experience very deep levels of relaxation and deep peace. Before beginning your journey inward, we will take time for you to consider your heart’s deepest longing (Sankalpa), that you will carry with you to your innermost self. Here you will be able to rest, restore and tap into new sources of energy, joy and wisdom. Here also you will allow your heart’s longing to be seeded and begin to blossom. This transformative practice will awaken your whole being, helping you to remember your happy heart and allowing you to enjoy life more fully…. All you have to do is lie down and listen

If you’d like to more fully absorb your retreat experience and treat yourself to a Friday and/or Saturday night stay at Elohee, you have the option of staying either or both nights and choosing to have any or all of the following meals:  dinner on Friday, breakfast and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday before your departure.   You can reserve your overnight stay by choosing your room type from the optional items on the reservation page and adding meals on as desired.
