In addition to the 3 night Kundalini Tantra Yoga Retreat being offered Thursday through Sunday, May 2 – 5, this retreat offers a 1 night Wednesday – Thursday Meditation component. Descriptions of both follow.
MEDITATION MODULE (Wednesday – Thursday): This one-night meditation module will focus on seated meditation or Zazen and walking meditation or Kinhin. Seated meditation, when used appropriately, is one of the most accessible, useful, and powerful practices available to the spiritual seeker. It is the center from which all other yoga techniques radiate like spokes on a wheel. Without it, all other yoga methods become activities that may yield temporary ecstatic mystical experiences or calming and relaxing effects, but ultimately do not end our suffering and thus may lead to an addictive relationship with spiritual practices that is akin to the one an alcoholic has with alcohol.
The retreat will start with Yin Yoga and instruction on seated and walking meditation. On Thursday morning strict silence or Mauna will be observed and we will do several hours of back to back meditation sessions. We will conclude a dharma discussion and then brunch.
This one-night component will include some or all of the following practices:

AWAKENING THE SERPENT POWER: A KUNDALINI TANTRA YOGA RETREAT (Thursday – Sunday): Today, if one hopes to lead a happy and fulfilling life, being ‘spiritually awake’ has almost become a necessity. Working with Kundalini Shakti, A.K.A. the “Serpent Power”, can be both an aid to spiritual awakening, and once awake, an accelerant for spiritual development. On this retreat, we will use a combination of various advanced Tantra Hatha Yoga techniques to first clear a path for Kundalini Shakti and then awaken, expand, move, contain, and channel it. The result will be a transformation of consciousness that changes our view of the world and ourselves within it. This transformation will not only allow us to feel more peace and joy, regardless of our particular circumstances but also allow us to be more effective at creating the best outcomes in each circumstance we find ourselves in.
While beginners are welcome, this intensive will require discipline and focus. You are encouraged to participate in all sessions. Prior experience with yoga, meditation, and the teachings of Douglas Johnson E-RYT 500, YACEP highly recommended. You may familiarize yourself with Douglas’ style by downloading free content on his website or Patreon page or attending his classes in the Atlanta area.
This three-night component will include some or all of the following practices:
-Kirtan (call and response chanting in Sanskrit)
-Yin Yoga (passive stretching)
-Yoga Nidra (sleep meditation)
-Yang Yoga (dynamic stretching & strengthening)
-Hatha Yoga (active stretching)
-Bandhas (energetic locks)
-Five-Rites Flow (a fusion of Tibetan and Taoist yoga)
-Chakra Meditation (mantra Nyasa practice)
-Vinyasa Yoga (dynamic & active stretching & strengthening)
-Mudras (advanced postural energetic seals)
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a beginner-friendly retreat and is intended for intermediate to advanced Mahāpatha Yoga practitioners only. Previous experience on a Mahāpatha Yoga retreat is highly recommended. Additionally, please be aware this retreat has nothing to do with ‘Kundalini Yoga’ or ‘Tantric Sex’.
