Working with Energies, Dropping into Silence
With Becky Butler, LCSW
April 28 - 30, 2017
The blend of Buddhist and Taoist meditation taught during this weekend helps us quiet our mind and heightens our awareness of the energies that move within us. It gives us a means of working with emotions that arise and allows us to use our spiritual energies to assist ourselves and others. We cultivate our capacity to sense the energies around us, and we more fully awaken to the inherent wisdom within us. As we practice, we are increasingly able to access a deep and nourishing state of stillness.
This retreat weekend is appropriate for first-time meditators, meditators who’ve had an introduction to this form of meditation and who want to deepen their practice, or meditators experienced in other traditions who would like an introduction to this blend of Buddhism and Taoism.
In addition to meditation instruction and practice, we’ll be learning to work energetically with one another, heightening our capacity to sense the energies that move within and between us, and working with the energies of nature. There will be plenty of opportunity during group sessions to share experiences, to ask questions, and to reflect on the process. The periods between group meditation sessions will be held in silence, allowing us to deepen our awareness and drop more fully into our own experience.
The retreat will be held at The Elohee Retreat Center in Sautee–Nacoochee (15 minutes from Helen & Unicoi State Park; 90 minutes from Atlanta). Nestled in the midst of 200 acres of undeveloped land in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian mountains, the Retreat House is built overlooking a 100’ waterfall. The land has over two miles of walking trails, expansive vistas, a mountain-top swimming pond and hot tub, and natural support for silence and intuitive connection. The land itself is deeply transformative.
Our intention is to create an environment that supports the deepening of meditation practice, encourages an awareness of the energies of nature, and enhances clarity regarding our own path.
