Master Instructer Hector (Hek’to) Salas is the founder of My Life Tai Chi and started Korean karate, Taekwondo, training in 1963. He earned his master rating in the arts of Taekwondo in 1986 through the Kukkiwon Headquarters in Seoul Korea, Shorin-Ryu, Wing Chun, and Tai Chi Chuan. Since 1973, he taught and shared his knowledge of the ancient Chinese way of exercise to achieve health and tranquility with hundreds of men, women and children in the United States and overseas. In addition, he helped promote the martial arts for health and fitness while living in different parts of the world; Germany, Republic of Panama, South Korea and the USA. In 1983, he was appointed District Director for the Panama (Canal Zone) Black belt Association, representing the U.S. armed forces. While serving in this position he conducted several dynamic officiating seminars and led the way for collaboration between hard styles and soft styles, like Tai Chi Chuan. He found a love for Tai Chi, for its way of activating the body’s energy, healing, self-control, relaxation, self-defense, improved concentration, stress release, and more energy in life.
